In addition to the above photographic process, I have translated these images as paintings using acrylic paint on watercolor canvas.

 

The relationship between the object and the shadow is ongoing and evolving. The ensuing problematic of where one artwork begins and ends is potentially aesthetically exhilarating. I am engaging in different mediums working in both painting and photography utilising my enduring preoccupations with light, color, layering, overlapping and transparency. I hope to continue exploring ways to express the notion of indeterminacy, abstraction and poetic drama in my work practice.

EMPLOYMENT HISTORY

 

2006 - 2013     Artbeat

                           I initiated “Artbeat” 1, a bi-Annual Art Competition and Exhibition at Moriah College (Queens                           Park). An art  competition for Middle and High School Students including an                                                         Adult category. I helped implement an  Artist in Residence program in 2008. The Adult Category                         known as the Eva Breuer Memorial Art prize has  a value of $5000. As Convenor of ‘Artbeat’, I                           oversee all aspects of the event including  sponsorship for the fund raising component,                                         marketing, public relations, selecting judges, curating and managing the Artbeat  committee.

 

 

2005 - 2013  Shalom Gamarada Ngiyani Yani

 

                     Ngiyani Yani’ 2, an annual Aboriginal Art Exhibition held at Shalom College, UNSW. A percentage of profits                         from the Art Exhibition fund Residential Scholarships for Aboriginal Medical Students. The program has                             grown enormously and we currently have 22 full time students enrolled and to date three graduates have                             qualified as doctors. As well as Marketing and Public Relations, website development, curatorial advice,                             sales and administration this experience has given me unique opportunities 3. A Community Art Award of

                     $15,000 awarded to the winning ‘community’ with the best body of work, was introduced in 2011 called the                          Glencore Community Art Prize. The second award is being presented on the 18th November 2013. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

 

                    

2008               Kesher Gamarada

 

                      I initiated: ‘Kesher Gamarada’ 5, a twinning Program between Moriah College and                                                             Yuendumu, a remote Aboriginal community in NT. This program offered students the chance to engage with                       Aboriginal communities and facilitated a cultural dialogue through art and education. Barbara Weir was the                         Artist in Residence and conducted workshops with the school students across all years 6.

 

 

 2003                  NSW Friends of  Bezalel

 

                          I Curated my first Exhibition for the NSW Friends of Bezalel Mary Place Paddington. NSW Friends                                     of Bezalel supports local Sydney artists and musicians in raising funds to provide scholarships for                                     students  to attend the Bezalel Art School in Israel. Patron: Dr Gene Sherman.

 

2002 - 2003         ArtAbout

 

 

                         I initiated an “Artist’s Market” at Fox Studios (Entertainment Quarter at the time, a unique and exciting                                concept for  Sydney: An outdoor art exhibition of emerging artists displaying  their work for sale direct to                            the public.

AWARDS

2010                             Nominated by the Shalom Institute UNSW, the host of the Shalom Gamarada program for                                                 my service to Indigenous Art and Health and received a JCA Volunteer Award.

 

 PUBLISHED                 Jacob Max – Your World: Published a book of my family history under the guidance of the                                                Sydney Jewish Museum I presented this book to my son in honor of his Barmitzvah. ​
