With subject matter derived from the study of the figurative world around
her, the intention is to translate that information into what she sees as
'the essential elements', expressed through the two dimensional
language of the canvas.
She explores the relationships between colour, line and form in the composition, and their apparent interdependence.
Within that, seeking a sense of fluidity, rhythm and balance that best describe the landscape for her.
The use of mixed media in her multiple layered works, results in a vibrant and energetic display of mark making and colour.
Gillian enjoys the work of the Impressionists and their pre-occupation with the nature of transience.
